GIS Substation Construction Projects
The Multi‑Site Site Manager is responsible for the overall coordination, supervision, and operational performance of several GIS substation construction sites within a single large‑scale project. This role covers the entire execution cycle—from civil works to installation, testing, and commissioning—while ensuring compliance with technical, contractual, and safety requirements.
Assignment Details
- Duration: 12 months, with possible extension.
- Start date: As soon as possible.
- Position based in Nigeria with frequent travel between project sites.
Your tasks
- Multi‑site supervision — Lead and coordinate several GIS substation construction sites simultaneously, ensuring alignment of planning, resources, and technical execution across all locations.
- Team leadership — Manage multicultural teams, oversee daily activities, conduct coordination meetings, and maintain strong team motivation and discipline.
- Project planning — Develop and monitor schedules, allocate resources, anticipate material and manpower needs, and ensure adherence to project milestones.
- Technical oversight — Supervise civil works, GIS assembly, electrical installation, testing, and commissioning activities in accordance with constructor’s standards.
- Client interface — Act as the primary point of contact for the French‑speaking client, ensuring clear communication, issue escalation, and customer satisfaction.
- HSE & compliance — Enforce strict compliance with HSE rules, quality procedures, and international construction standards.
- Country‑specific risk management — Operate effectively in a challenging environment (Nigeria), demonstrating integrity, firmness, and strong awareness of local cultural and corruption‑related risks.
- Reporting — Provide regular progress reports in english, risk assessments, and corrective action plans for all sites under your responsibility.
Your qualifications
Technical background
- Proven experience (minimum 10 years) in managing construction sites within the energy sector: substations, HV infrastructure, civil works, photovoltaic plants, or similar complex projects.
- Strong understanding of GIS substation technology.
- Full lifecycle experience: civil works → installation → testing → commissioning.
Leadership & soft skills
- Strong leadership and conflict‑management abilities.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills with multicultural teams.
- High resilience, autonomy, and decision‑making capacity in demanding environments.
Languages
- Fluent English (mandatory)
- Professional French (client communication)
